Preparations have been concluded for the investiture of Governor Udom Emmanuel as patron of Ati Annang Foundation, while his wife, Martha Udom Emmanuel will be formally inducted as a member of the apex socio-cultural organization of Annang nation.

According to the organizers, they are to be honored in appreciation of their unwavering commitment to the development of Akwa Ibom State.

A statement jointly signed by the International President of the organization, Rt. Hon. (Sir) Udo Kierian Akpan and Chairman, AGM Planning Committee, Pastor Paul Udofia on-behalf of the Interantional Executive Council of Ati Annang, an made available to the press indicates, that the investiture ceremony which coincides with the 2017 Annual General Meeting, (AGM) of the body, will hold on Saturday February 18, at Regina Pacis Hall, Ifuho, Ikot Ekpene.

The statement made available to the press by the Chairman of the Publicity sub committee and member of the Board of Trustees, Elder Aniekan Umanah, says this year’s AGM which is first of its kind, promises to be unique as the Governor and his wife are expected to grace the occasion as Special guests of honour, while the Deputy Governor Moses Ekpo will serve as Guest of honour.

Former Governor of the state, and Senate Minority Leader, Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON, who is the Grand Patron of Ati Annang will serve as Chief host. Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Barr. Onofiok Luke, Deputy Speaker, Hon. (Princess) Felicia Bassey, the Secretary to the State Gvoernment, Sir. Etekamba Umoren, “Corporate titans and many other high profile dignitaries are expected as guests”, at the AGM.

While commending the Chairman of the BOT of the foundation Sir Emem Akpabio for his strategic role in the programmes, he equally lauded the International President, Sir. Udo Kierian and Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Pastor Udofia for working tirelessly towards a successful hosting of the event. Mr. Umanah who is the former commissioner for Information in the state, listed other activities line up to commemorate the 2017 epochal AGM of the organization include award of scholarships to 200 deserving students studying in various tertiary institutions across the country who were successful at the recent aptitude test conducted by the foundation, presentation of ‘Backpacks and accessories to five hundred(500) pupils drawn from forty(40) public primary schools, to support the ongoing free education programme of the state government.

The release further states that the ceremony will witness the presentation of trophies and prizes to winners of the 2016/2017 Ati Annang inter secondary school’s football tournament and the flagg-off of the foundation’s diabetes and blood pressure screening programme.
Members of Ati Annang Foundation from across the world including, United States of America, Canada, United Kingdom/Ireland and members all over Nigeria are also expected to grace the AGM.

The foundation which was established over two decades ago has achieved a lot in terms of educational development, human capacity development, sport development, health as well as the preservation of Annang culture and heritage among many others.

The week long activities which commenced with SuperSports “Lets Play” programme featuring over 700 children between the ages of 8 and 14 years and the finals of the Ati Annang Inter-School Football Tournament at Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium also witnessed a media chat, featuring high ranking officials of the Foundation and the AGM Planning Committee, courtesy call on Paramount Rulers in Annang land and visit to Orphanage Homes.

The grand finale would be the reception and induction of Governor Udom Emmanuel and Wife.

Accordingly, the organizers have invited political office holders, business leaders, diplomats, representatives of Multi-national development agencies, royal fathers, religious leaders, corporate bodies, public servants, civil society organizations, leaders of thought, socio-cultural organizations and the general public to witness the induction ceremony.
