Akwa Ibom State Government will on Sunday, September 27, 2015 hold an Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service to mark the 28th Anniversary of the creation of the State and the 55th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria.
A statement by the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr. Aniekan Umanah, said the State Governor, His Excellency, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, has invited leaders, elders, members of the political class, youth and women organisations, organised private sector, Civil Society Organisations, members of the Clergy, organised labour, the academia as well as the general public to be part of solemn occasion.
Mr. Umanah said the service, scheduled to hold at the Ibom Hall Grounds, will have as its theme, The Glory of the Latter House shall be Greater, to commence by 2:00 pm.
The celebration of the 28th Anniversary of Akwa Ibom State creation and launching of the #Dakkada Initiative yesterday, September 23rd, by Governor Udom Emmanuel, is one auspicious occasion in the history of the people.
The Dakkada Initiative by Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration is a re-orientation campaign, to ignite Moral Transformation and Spiritual Re-birth in Akwa Ibom People. It is dubbed the celebration of the future of a people born great, and the venue, Godswill Akpabio International 30, 000 capacity stadium, was filled to the brim.
The Interdenominational Thanksgiving Service is part of the activities to mark the annual celebration, and the statement further urged citizens to come out and be part of the prayer to further the peace and progress of Akwa Ibom and Nigeria. He said this is of great importance, especially coming on the heels of the launch of the Dakkada spiritual rebirth and moral transformation Campaign by Governor Udom Emmanuel.
