…… As Ecuador is set to partner the company on Tourism Development in 2018.
Owners of Akwa Tourism Development Company Limited (ATDC), Mr. Joseph Utin and Mr. Ubong Ekpe has stated that the interest and development of tourism in Akwa Ibom State remains the number one priority in their agenda, especially now that the state Governor is in the business of industrialising the state, even as the Ecuadorian Ambassador to Nigeria has stated the resolve of his country to partner ATDC in the area of tourism development and promotions.
The Akwa Ibom based tourism experts gave the assertion Monday in Abuja during a courtesy call on the Ambassador of Ecuador to Nigeria, Ambassador Leopoldo Verdesoto in his office.
Speaking at the visit, the executive director of the company, Mr. Ubong Ekpe noted that the visit was basically to invite the Ecuadorian envoy to Akwa Ibom state to explore the huge tourism potential that abound in the state as well as see possible areas to invest since the state is blessed with rich waterways and aquatic experience which Ecuador has in terms of comparative advantage.
He expressed the company’s readiness to start a tourism exchange program where youths of Akwa Ibom State will be trained in tourism related discipline in Ecuador.
Also speaking, Managing Director of the company Mr. Joseph Utin informed the ambassador of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s vision of industrializing the state through the public private partnership model which will create job opportunities and wealth for the people.
According to Mr. Utin, “with the state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure in the state, Akwa Ibom State is ready to receive tourism investors from Ecuador”.
Responding, the Ecuadorian Ambassador expressed appreciation to the tourism experts for the visit and also thanked them for having the interest of Akwa Ibom State at heart, especially in the area of marketing the tourism potential of the State and for the interest in developing tourism in Nigeria.
He added that his country Ecuador will support the tourism exchange program by the first quarter of 2018 and promised to visit the state soon.
High point of the visit was the presentation of Tourism Impressions Magazine, a publication of ATDC which markets Akwa Ibom as the preferred destination.
