Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial capital and Africa’s most populous city was on a stand still as it witnessed the grand entry of Deacon Udom Emmanuel- The Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom, his amiable wife, colleagues, families, friends and well wishers from across the globe.
They are all in the city for a Thanksgiving Service organized for Mr Emmanuel by United Evangelical Church otherwise known as Qua Iboe church, Surulere, Lagos. Invitation had been sent to the high and mighty, cordially requesting presence at a thanksgiving service to thank God for His faithfulness to their brother, His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State- Deacon Udom Emmanuel and their sister, his wife, Her Excellency, Deaconess Martha Udom Emmanuel and family.
Amongst the who-is-who in attendance were;former Military Governors of Akwa Ibom state- Joseph Adewusi & Otuekong Idongesit Nkanga, PDP Guber Candidate in Lagos- Jimi Agbaje, Akwa Ibom state Deputy Governor-Mr Moses Ekpo, Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly- Rt Hon Aniekan Uko, Akwa Ibom & Lagos States PDP Chairmen- Obong Paul Ekpo & Olatunde Shelle, Wife of former Akwa Ibom state Governor-Mrs Ekaette Unoma Akpabio, Senators Effiong Bob, Anietie Okon & Bassey Albert, Rt Hon Sam Ikon, Sir Emem Akpabio, Dean, Forum of Commissioners- Barr. Highpoint of the thanksgiving service was the discharge of religious duties by the Governor, who went round with a basket to collect offering from the congregation, while his wife led the Praise Team choir.
The Governor, during his remarks, appreciated the role of the church and members on his journey to the hilltop mansion, he pledged to help complete the Convention Ground on Lekki-Epe Express Way, and urged them to ignore political news and propaganda, which is always in circulation.
He went further to assure the congregation and Akwa Ibom people in diaspora that his administration has commenced the drive for the industrialization of the state, and will not relent. He quickly noted the just revamped and re-commissioned Peacock Paint Factory in Etinan, which is now fully functional and capable of supplying paints to several parts of Nigeria.
